Also known as consecutive interpreting, face-to-face interpreting is a two way form of interpreting – meaning that all parties present can take part in a discussion.
Sometimes referred to as whispering interpreting (for spoken languages), simultaneous interpreting is useful for large events where some attendees require translation. Simultaneous interpreting is also the standard mode of delivery for American Sign Language. (ASL).
At large events where there are more than a few participants who require translation, it may be necessary to use conference interpreting.
